As the tech educator at E J Patten, I facilitate the use of technology for 41 classrooms, the main office, and many non-classroom teaching, support staff, and students, so my "customers" number more than 1,000 individuals.  I begin school each day before 7 AM by inspecting, scheduling, and delivering our large amount of mobile equipment, including laptops, iPads, iPods, and document cameras.  I also visit the classrooms to check equipment when requested by the teachers.  I train teachers in the effective use of technology that has been purchased by the district.  I maintain numerous resources for our school, such as online instructional sites and databases used by our school to improve instruction.

Once the instructional day begins, I see a full schedule of 30 classes each week on a rotating schedule in the computer lab, so that I see every class at least 3 out of 4 weeks.  Due to many ongoing instructional initiatives, I am often called upon to cover computer classes so that teachers can attend grade level meetings.  I assist in documenting test results and have converted many paper systems to more efficient electronic forms.

When requested by the district, I assist other tech educators and district tech support. During the course of a school year, I participate in over 100 hours of professional development, both as a participant and presenter, in and out of our district.
