School Counselors provide guidance and counseling in the areas of social/personal, educational and career development at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Student Assistance Counselors (SAC’s) at the middle and high school level provide counseling to students who are at risk or affected by drug and/or alcohol abuse.
The Mission of the Perth Amboy Counseling Department is to: - Actively engage in helping students to examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents
- Work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world
- Focus on positive ways to enhance student’s social/personal, educational and career development
- Collaborate with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves
Role of the School Counselor:School counselors provide counseling in the following areas
